This course provides an introduction to package design with an emphasis on the practices of the current industry. Students will develop the design skills necessary to create a distinctive and appealing brand identity for the retail marketplace. This includes learning to design from the perspectives of aesthetics, marketing, manufacturing processes, sustainability, and utility.

ASSIGNMENT 1 - CHARACTER ICONS
In this assignment, you should create authentic character icons from existing story-based content (Movie, Game. Graphic novels, Childrens’ book, Comicbook, Webtoon, etc,) Consider the delivery of the core message yet with the best simplification. Also, maintain the unity and consistency in this set of characters. The outcome should be one set of icons of 5 different characters using Adobe Illustrator.
ASSIGNMENT 2 - SURREAL COLLAGE
Create a HD resolution surreal photographic illustration appropriating the existing photographs in photoshop. You may also want to use your own photo for this project. Choose a scene from any fictional stories from a novel, fairy tale, or your dream. Please be creative and artistic. We will create GIF animation based on the initial collage.
